David L. Kline

President and Chief Operating Officer,

Rainbow Advertising Sales Corporation

As president and chief operating officer of Rainbow Advertising Sales Corporation (RASCO), David Kline oversees the strategic development, management and operation of cable’s most diverse advertising representation firm. RASCO’s operations include: AMC Ad Sales, WE tv Ad Sales, Rainbow Direct, Cablevision Advanced Platform Sales, Cablevision Local Advertising Sales, News 12 Networks Ad Sales and The New York Interconnect.

Mr. Kline has guided RASCO’s growth and success for more than a decade, having assumed his current position in July 1997. Part of that growth is linked to a variety of interactive advertising products and initiatives that have been successfully launched under Mr. Kline’s leadership, including the Cablevision Advanced Platform Sales unit.

Since launching in 2005, Cablevision Advanced Platform Sales has created ground-breaking agreements with major blue chip marketers utilizing the cable system’s interactive television (ITV), video-on-demand (VOD), online and linear platforms in ways that have produced valuable and tangible benefits for the company’s customers and advertising clients. Cablevision and RASCO have been leading the way to provide marketers with unique and measurable cross-platform marketing packages that provide the highest levels of consumer engagement.

Cablevision Advanced Platforms has developed and implemented branded interactive VOD channels for a number of leading global brands including Disney Vacations, The U.S. Navy, FX Network, Mars, Inc., BMW, Unilever, and Sony Corporation. Additionally, Cablevision has the largest deployment of addressable advertising to date. The RASCO sales team efforts ensured that the initial deployment included top national brands from media partners GroupM, Starcom MediaVest Group and Universal McCann.

Under Mr. Kline’s leadership, Cablevision has continued to add new advanced and interactive advertising products to its suite of offerings, including branded VOD channels and addressable advertising, as well as telescoping, same-day VOD ad insertion and more. Most recently, in the fall of 2009, Mr. Kline oversaw the introduction of Optimum Select to the advertising community. Optimum Select transforms the thirty-second commercial into a gateway for longer engagement with a brand, empowering digital cable customers to immediately respond to commercials through their TV remote control. In turn, advertisers are able to have a dialogue with consumers about their brands and the opportunity to put products into the hands of those who are interested in trying the products.

Prior to joining RASCO, he was senior vice president of SportsChannel Cincinnati and Ohio. Mr. Kline joined SportsChannel Cincinnati in 1990 and held a number of escalating positions during his seven year tenure.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Kline held roles at Showtime Networks, Viewer’s Choice and Warner-Amex Cable.

Mr. Kline earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB), the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM).
